PinePaw's Stroll

PinePaw was sitting on the rock. As usual. She sat there every morning. She sat there, just staring at the view until TwigPaw came.

"Hey! I'm so happy about being an apprentice and everything." Twigpaw exclaimed. Twigpaw always sat with his sister EVERY morning. He jumped up and sat down with her. He didn't like it as much as her. Twigpaw smiled at Pinepaw. "Lets ask SpottedStar if we can hunt." Twigpaw suggested.

Pinepaw shrugged. "Sure. Lets go." She said.

Spottedstar was walking to the camp exit when Pinepaw and her brother came barging in."Hello Pinepaw ready for your assignment?"She asked as Bluetalon came towards her.

"Good morning, Spottedstar."The tom said.He looked at Twigpaw and smiled. "Today we look for herbs to restock.Even though the best season is Newleaf, Leafbare is right around the corner."he said to the apprentice.

Spottedstar nodded, and told Pinepaw, "Lionpaw and Rapidfang had already left to go hunting. So did Shiverpaw and Shadowpaw, and Frostpaw, with Firefang."

Pinepaw nodded. She looked forward to hunting but she loved assignments. "Lay one on me!" Pinepaw answered, happily.

Twigpaw nodded. He wanted to see all the different kinds of herbs. "Yes! I'm ready, BlueTalon!" Twigpaw exclaimed.

Spottedfire told Pinepaw her instuctions."You will go to sunningrocks and catch as much prey as you can."Simple.

Bluetalon nodded and lead Twigpaw out of camp."Today I will show you what Death berries look like."She told the tom quietly.

Pinepaw nodded. She took one last glance before taking off.

"Death berries? What are THOSE used for?" Twigpaw asked, very interested in what death berries were.

Spottedstar watched as Pinepaw walked out of camp, waited a few minutes then began to secerelty follow hre.

Bluetalon looked at Twigpaw."Deathberries."He said flicking his tail to a bush of berries a couple steps away."Deathberries,can kill a cat if they are not tended to immediatly.We won't need any of those.But these,"He said flicking his tail to a plant."We will need.As I said Leaffall will be here before we know it and we might need this,in a later time.Catnip cures Whitecouh,Greencough,Blackcough, and used to ease pain.But what we need more of right now are these berries.Juniperberries are good for tummyache and whitecough."He said."Do you got that?"He asked.

Twigpaw nodded. "Got it." Twigpaw said. Even though it was a lot, Twigpaw thought he could manage.

Pinepaw walked, scrapind the ground with her claws. When she had reached sunningrocks, she opened her mouth to smell prey. Different scents made Pinepaw unable to smell SpottedStar. She looked around and finally found a vole. She crouched really low. She clawed her way towards the vole. It perked it's ears up and sniffed. It scurried a couple inches away. When Pinepaw was only a couple fox-lengths away, she pounced and had the vole in her paws. She pressed her paws harder on the vole to make it stop moving. When it did, Pinepaw picked it up and turned around.

Spottedstar was hiding in a bush about a couple steps away from Pinepaw.She saw her technique and if she wasn't hiding she would have paraised the apprentice.Spottedstarfollowed her when she stopped.Rabbit?She thought.She turned her head to see a very fat rabbit hoping towards the water bank.That rabbit looked as if it could feed half of the whole clan!Spottedstar thought again.If pinepaw didn't notice it, Spottedstar would have to try and sneak it somehow.

Pinepaw heard rustles but didn't care. She opened her mouth again. She smelled a bunny. She followed the scent. When she saw it, she opened her eyes WIDE. That was a HUGE rabbit. She stalked it. When she pounced, the bunny couldn't move, it was so fat. Pinepaw laughed at it. Then she killed it, she was so tempted to eat it all for herself. But how could she? "Maybe just one...." Pinepaw suggested. She bit part of it. Oooh it was so juicy. She took another bite. Ooooh so scrumtious. She took one last bite. Ooooh so tender and rich. Before she knew it, the rabbit was gone. She pulled her ears back. What had she done?

Spottedstar looked at Pinepaw in anger from where she standed.She would not go out of her hiding place though.She had to wait untll she was finished first.She held back a sigh and continued to watch.

Pinepaw walked in circles. She had killed a starling, vole, mouse, and a rabbit which was eaten. She stared at the sky. "I am sooo sorry, Clan! I let you down!" She admitted. Pinepaw walked with all of the prey back to camp and then started off, again. She heard the rustle in the bushes again. "Prey." She whispered. When she pounced into the bushes, it wasn't prey. It was SpottedStar.

"Hello, Pinepaw."Spottedstar said."Iv'e been following you to see how well your hunting techniques are."And turning around towards camp she said."I saw everything."Turning back around to Pinepaw and told her,"Come on get your prey, were returning to camp."She grabbed some of it and trotted off.

Pinepaw looked back. No. She had to go and get as much prey as that rabbit weighed. With her leader's back turned, she ran off. Somewhere out there.

Spottedstar looked in horror as Pinepaw ran off.I didn't show her the thunderpath yet.Spottedstar thought.Then noticd, the scent trail ld another way.She sighed and ran after her."I'll just hide some more"She laughed.

While running she noticed this BIIIIG black thing on the ground. She stepped a paw on it and then, VROOOOOOM. She freaked. The monster almost ate her. Big monsters, little monsters, yellow, red, blue, so many colors and sizes. Their stench reeked so bad, they made Pinepaw's eyes water. She decided to turn back.

Panick flicked inside Spottedstar as she saw Pinepaw rush up to the Thunderpath.But to her relief she turned back.With a sigh she followed her.She saw another rabbit.She had to double take to be sure.That rabbit was bigger then the last one.What's up with these fat rabbits?Spottedstar thought, shruggung it away.Who cares?More prey for thunderclan!

Pinepaw walked back. She noticed a rabbit. BIGGER THAN BEFORE! Pinepaw just ran up to it and killed it. She could barely lift it up. She dragged it back to camp, still guilty about eating the other rabbit.

Spottedstar took a shortcut back to camp and was there waiting when Pinepaw arrived."Hello, Pinepaw.How was your hunt after you ran?"She asked the cat.Even though she knew.

Pinepaw shrugged. "Good. Here. I got you a rabbit to repay for the mistake I made." Pinepaw admitted.

Spottedstar nodded."Your mistakewas follish."She said in a hard voice."But no cat is perfect."She admitted."And if not for that mistake you would not find that bigger rabbit."She said in a gentle voice."Good job, you caught a lot."

Pinepaw smiled slightly. She was glad she had done at least one right thing today. "Thanks, SpottedStar." Pinepaw said before walking off towards the big rock at the entrance of camp.
